Get Online!

I think I keep writing this, but it's true every time. I am STOKED for next year. I may not get completely online next year but we will have a presence in a way.

At the very least we will have twitter and Facebook. Our district has a Facebook so I think I will be fine.

One thing I took from Kathy Roshke's talk today was the organization of staff. I love the idea of having a PR person who tweets and posts to Facebook regularly. Or having multiple people post with the Rule of 3.

I am excited to get my students to tweet or instagram photo while at dances or field trips! Even inviting those not on staff to #thedublinshield and tagging us would be awesome. Giving power to kids in campus to contribute to the paper.

  1. I love the idea of the school newspaper #. This could make it a lot easier for all students to tweet about events on campus. Students on staff can use their personal twitter accounts to tweet for the paper and other students can do the same. Great way to connect the campus and great way to promote your paper.

  2. Bidjan. That is a great picture, and really shows how easy it is for everyone to capture moments with their phones. I really am thinking of investing in iPod Touches for my classroom. They could easily work for photos as well as video. Does anyone else think this is a good idea, or should I look for funds for a video camera? Kelly Robinson

  3. Bidjan, I like the idea of involving everyone in the school community to participate via Twitter. I really want the editors to run our twitter handle, but my admin will only allow me to operate it for now until the newness and "fear" wears off.

Kelly, iPod touches would be great for this. I've thought about it as well. For now, I'm getting two new iPads for my journalism class to use for the same purpose, but we'll be limited with the number of kids that can use them.
