The key to a good relationship with your boss, according to Kristin Gilger, is knowing your boss. Seems like common sense, and it really is. So when I head home, I've got to make an appointment to sit down with my principal, but not for just what I thought it would be...a review of this experience and a move to go online. That will come and it might even come that day. But the first thing I have to do is take that sheet of questions in and play the "how well do I know you game." I look forward to hearing his responses and seeing how this changes our relationship. He and I have had a rocky work relationship, but he will be the first to say he admires my teaching ability. I'm hoping, by opening up some dialogue, he will be more open to moving the newspaper forward in a technologically driven world.
I agree with this. I have a meeting set up for the start of school. While I think this will be a good meeting, I'm worried. We need to have some strong conversations about the first amendment and prior review. We have to go beyond prior review in order to publish online. It'll be a hard conversation, because prior review has been an issue through five other advisers and 15+ years.
