I found the session with guest speaker Dylan Smith intriguing and energizing.
I've heard from many journalists mourning the demise of print, and others insisting that print is still alive and well, but had not heard the perspective of someone who already made the jump to the web and was committed to it.
Smith was blunt and convincing. His statements about it being time for the big news organizations to hang up the "Going Out of Business" sign and that teachers should quit teaching InDesign, made me change from thinking our school's news paper should be online as well as in print, to thinking that we must be online and may not even need the print edition anymore if we do it right.
His perspective of reaching out to a local audience even with an online product that is available to the world, was also helpful in getting my head around the idea.
