How might the High Court's Mixed Immigration Message Affect Our Schools?

At breakfast this morning, Steve, Amelia, Donna and this reporter discussed how the High Court's mixed immigration message might affect our school in general and our newspapers in particular? While we also have complex set of views, I'm hoping this rhetorical question will trigger insights and answers from you. So far, here's our thoughts. I mentioned that in my experience, children of undocumented workers often have better test scores, better grades and better attitudes than American-born children o all stripes. Amelia agreed. Steve disagreed. And Donna was somewhere in the middle.

On Friday, all of heard how the Arizona Republic planned to follow the money trail connected with the immigration debate. A quartet of us inquiring into diversity issues at the Spanish-language La Voz two levels down asked reporters of this weekly reaching what they said were 65,000 readers, how they might ply their trade given the news we can all use. Since I believe all feel yesterday's U.S. Supreme Court split ruling as well as President Obama's recent executive decision not to deport nearly 800,000 children of undocumented workers are both "game changers" (which is how La Voz reporters Samuel Murillo and Eduardo Bernal described them in our noon-time meeting Friday) in our wider communities and in our newsrooms. My question to you is how do you think it'll affect your shop?
