Donuts and Design

Or Design and Donuts. Either way, life just doesn't get much better than that in my world.
Tracy Collins session was a real treat for a Graphic Design teacher who didn't go to design school.
It was so helpful to hear tips from a pro and get real solid guidelines for what to do and not to do. Optimal word count for a line of type is 7-9 words, kern every headline, track at -15, use tighter leading, bring the text in from the edge of the box, make reverse type a point bigger. Tons of great specific advice. Yay! I teach my Graphics Classes that they are the "Sherpa" and in charge of where the readers eye goes first, second, and third on the page, but I never taught my Journalists to think the same way. An Ah-Ha moment.

  1. Deann,
I agree there was just so much good info! It was hard to keep track of it all! I think I might just need to show the ppt to my students, so they can get all the goodness first-hand. I will give credit though.
