Covering the heat

We had a great time today talking to people about how they survive the heat!

In the top photo my team is interviewing a Phoenix local at the Civic Space Park.

In the bottom photo, the subject is a tourist from Newcastle, England, who was cooling off in the hotel pool.

  1. Wow- the people from foggy England must be melting in these temps!

  3. Great photos- Gary from Newcastle, England was an amicable pleasure of an interview subject. I think the fact that there were several foreign tourists in and around the pool is a testament to the fact that Phoenicians are a unique breed, having acclimated to this ridiculous heat. This photo captures the teamwork dynamic we were able to pull of right away in order to complete our task- and both follow that pesky rule of thirds to a tee. Bravo!

  4. As one of the trio, I can say the Newcastle dad was a great interview. His comments and his tattoos were awesome. What was really great, though, was that all three of us had some video experience. And in true team spirit, we each took roles where we thought would best contribute to the total package. Sarah was a gifted editor. Cody was good interviewer. And this reporter did an OK job capturing images. All of us co-produced it and worked as a team. Yet given the structures of patriarchy, Cody and I felt very comfortable when Steve asked the leader of this group to call it "Sarah's Crew."
