Bonding And Baseball
Tonight, I was on the receiving end of quality interview questions. This "modeling," as we've learned to call it came from Steve Caswell of Similar Valley, Calif.
We were all asked to interview a fellow member of this program, Steve took this very seriously.
He started Simply: "tell me everything and I'll forget to look up the criminal record."
Thanks for that, Steve. He asked with interest about the script I'm writing. He was fascinated to talk best practices in our classrooms. He wanted to know how I had become a teacher, if I was married, what i wrote my Masters Thesis on.
These were not just questions to remind me to buy a little award of sorts and to get to know my own intended colleague better. These questions were foundational to form friendship. I felt encouraged and listened to.
So from the follow the leader from Sheriton To stadium until post fireworks I got another great lesson in reporting. I believe this reporting is what Steve Elliott calls "Oprah style."

Wow, thanks Stephanie. I've always felt that interviewing was the single most important skill a journalist must develop, and something that takes a lot of work, practice, and reflection. Getting complimented makes me feel really good. Now I definitely won't look up that criminal record (LOL).
